How Are Players Evaluated?
At OGH, our coaches carefully evaluate each player to ensure proper team placement and development. Players are assessed on their overall skill level, athleticism, and understanding of the game. Key factors in the evaluation process include conditioning, strength, and endurance, as well as fundamental skills such as shooting accuracy, ball handling with both hands, and defensive ability in both on-ball and help situations.
Beyond physical skills, attitude and coachability play a crucial role. We look for players who demonstrate a positive approach toward teammates and coaches, show a strong understanding of offensive and defensive concepts, and have a passion for improving their game. Our goal is to build well-balanced teams that include a mix of point guards, shooting guards, versatile swing players, and post players, ensuring a competitive and development-focused environment for all athletes.
How Are Players Offered a Roster Spot?
After the evaluation process, players are invited to join a team based on roster availability. This invitation process can take up to one week to complete, as coaches carefully assess team needs and skill balance. Once an invitation is extended, families will have approximately 48 hours to accept the offer by submitting the season payment. If a player declines the roster spot, the next ranked player will be offered the opportunity, and this process will continue until all spots are filled.
If a player is not selected for a roster, families will be notified via email using the contact information provided during pre-registration. It’s important to note that roster invitations are sent at different times, so if a friend has received an invitation while your child has not, it does not necessarily mean they have not made the team. We ensure that all families are informed of final team decisions once rosters are complete.
Season Fees?
OGH offers a high-quality basketball experience at a competitive price. Our program fees vary based on the season, number of practices, games, and tournaments scheduled. Fees cover team practices, league play, tournament entries, coaching, insurance and operational costs.
Families will receive the final schedule, including practice times and tournament details, before making a commitment. Once a roster spot is offered, a decision and payment must be made within 48 hours.
